The Sensory Skills Intermediate course expands on the core principles introduced in the Sensory Skills Foundation module, preparing learners for more advanced roles in sensory evaluation within the coffee industry.
This course explores a wide range of topics, including:
- The physiology of taste and aroma
- Sensory analysis methods and test types
- How to structure and conduct a cupping session
- The diverse attributes of coffee
- Utilising tools such as the SCA Flavour Wheel and WCR Sensory Lexicon
- Designing and implementing sensory panels and sessions
Learners will complete a written exam to assess theoretical knowledge, alongside a practical exam focused on distinguishing key sensory attributes and identifying fragrance profiles.
